Before going for JC economics tuition at Learner's Lodge, my understanding of economics was foggy at best and my essay skills were lacking. Thankfully, through lessons that maximized teacher-student interaction by capitalizing on innovative technology such as the SMART board, Mr. Koh, a warm and engaging teacher, clarified many of my misconceptions about the subject. Learner's Lodge also provided their own informative and well-organized notes that were not only beneficial for economics concepts, but also essay skills as it included essay-style explanations for graphs and common economic concepts. Always concerned for his students, Mr. Koh went out of his way to help us. He was constantly contactable via phone and email, through which we could ask him any economics question and he would answer them promptly. One could also arrange for extra consultation sessions with him. He encouraged us to do essays and case studies, which he would mark and return to us in a week's time even though all of his students were bombarding him with multiple essays, especially close to the A-level period. His impressive dedication towards his students lasted all the way till the last day of the A-level economics paper. I am positive that I would not have done as well if it were not for all his help, and am hence extremely grateful towards him.

I've always enjoyed Mr Terence Chia's JC Maths lessons as I never fail to learn something new. It is only after attending Mr Chia's lessons that I realised that I really really liked the logic behind every mathematical question, for which I also saw its value for other aspects in life. He always amazes me with his enthusiasm in class, smiles and all. Sometimes, I really feel that students in class dont give teachers much to smile about ;p Thanks for being such an awesome teacher!

Truth be told, I find it hard to exactly describe what I feel about him, and who he is.
When I first met him, I was very impressed with the way he portrayed himself. It felt more like the definition of a 'True Teacher' I rarely saw in my school life. He was very sharing, kind, understanding, but most of all engaging. As time went by until we had to part ways, I only felt my time spent with him enriching….He will ensure that you do understand what he is teaching. He will ask you to clarify your understanding, and ask for you to even pose tough questions to him for your learning that both of you can work together to success. However, what is more amazing is his character and personality, which only fuels my respect for him further. His passion for teaching truly has led him to being a private tutor, as he has given up a great many things to pursue his desire to teach Physics (please, if you do wish to ask him about his life story, proceed at your own discretion, but I will not elaborate on what details surround his life). His engagement with me has been fruitful as he imparts nuggets of wisdom, to both life and studies (namely physics), such as maintaining consistency and placing great effort.
He is also very easygoing, lighthearted, and humorous. Furthermore, I know he will not say this of himself, but I say he is a very humble, kind and caring man.
Through my two years of H2 Physics tuition with Mr Yeo, I was very happy to be working with him. He provided excellent material and made sure that what he taught could be assimilated into my brain, and even went further so as to encourage me and my fellow peers in class. Throughout my entire two years of working with Mr Yeo, I can say with conviction that I have enjoyed every step of it; from when I felt down in physics, to when I felt great about my scores.

I will like to thank Mr Victor Wu for spending his time teaching me and giving me advices to improve on my weaker topics in H2 Biology. Without his patience and unrelentless will to nurture me, I would not get my results today. Topics such as Diversity and Evolution, Genetics and DNA seem easy under Mr Wu's guidance. I appreciate his efforts to provide us with challenging tutorial questions to sharpen our exam skills. Although I only spent a few months in his Biology tuition class, I learnt a lot of things from him. Mr Wu's optimistic nature has inspired me to seek a positive outlook in life and never daunted by challenges. I will always remember him not only as a teacher, but a great mentor and a good friend!

“I have been a H2 Chemistry student of Mr Au since Feb 2009. In all these months under him, I have found him a dedicated Chemistry teacher who prepares his JC Chemistry tuition lessons well and he executes all his lessons in a manner that’s easy to follow. I have never left any lesson feeling that I was not clear about the lesson. His H2 JC Chemistry tuition lessons are very engaging and interactive. He makes lessons come alive and he never puts down any students. He is always encouraging his students to ask questions and to ponder over what has been disseminated in class. Students in his class are never afraid to clarify when they are in doubt as he never fails to clear out doubts when he is approached. He goes out of his way to make time for all his students.
I have found myself improving under the careful guidance of Mr Au. Personally, my belief is that Mr Au is an asset to the teaching profession.”

Mr Terence Chia has made A level JC Maths such an enjoyable subject for me. His sincere teachings, concern and encouragements along the way truly made my endeavour on improving my JC Maths grades easier. I’ll never forget the 2nd lesson I had in his class, the one on Permutations and Combinations: “Who wants to be a Mathematician”. It was impactful and convinced me that JC Maths could be fun if I made it out to be! Thank you for the creativity!

Mr Chia's maths teaching style is really one-of-a-kind. He has mad H2 Maths so much more tolerable for me in JC.Apart from Maths concepts, he has also taught me many important life lessons such as the need to really love what we do and take pride in it. He has nurtured my love for maths; he is truly a star teacher in every way possible.

I had been consistently failing A level JC Economics grandly during my first year in JC! I joined Mr Lee’s class in my second year and that was really the turning point. He taught really well and showed us the big picture and constantly emphasized the importance of real world application for the subject. The A level JC Economics he taught us was always intertwined with history, world politics, current affairs and his sense of humour. My understanding of the subject grew and my grades really improved. He didn’t teach the dry, boring, difficult economics my teachers back in my JC taught; rather he made it an engaging subject with his intelligent yet funny and weird discussions! Thank you Mr Lee! I did well and it’s REALLY ONLY BECAUSE OF YOU!

I was taught by Mr Yeo for only 2 months just before my A level JC Physics examinations, but I daresay that he has managed to change my perception of A level JC physics in this short span of time. Initially, A level JC Physics was one of the toughest subjects that I had to grapple with, and I was quite disheartened as my A level examinations were approaching. However, Mr Yeo never failed to clarify my doubts and he would often further question me on certain concepts to ensure that I had a solid foundation. Sufficient worksheets were provided every lphysics tuition esson, and these practices were very helpful as they were often timed and there was a combination of both easy and challenging questions. I began to enjoy A level JC Physics and I became confident of getting an A grade for Physics.
Mr Yeo is a very dedicated JC physics tuition teacher and I will remember him as the tutor who went the extra mile to clarify my doubts over the phone just the day before my A level physics exam, and he would even send me extra worksheets for practice whenever I requested. Mr Yeo is a very experienced and interesting tutor, and I am certain that other students will benefit greatly from his lphysics tuition essons too!

I started A-level JC Economics tuition with Mr Lee in JC 1 and I truly believe that he has helped me a great deal in understanding JC economics concepts and developing critical thinking skills that are important to mastering H2 Economics. Honestly, I found it the most challenging subject out of my four H2s. However, Mr Lee made me love the subject, especially in JC 2 when I was introduced to Macroeconomics. On top of clear and concise notes that helped me build my foundation in the subject, Mr Lee taught me how A-level JC Economics can be applied to real life situations in interesting ways through videos, newsletters and documentaries that further piqued my interest.
As examination styles are deviating from the predictable and conventional, knowing how Economics function in the real world is crucial to excelling in the subject. Although not explicitly taught in the H2 A-level JC Economics syllabus, being well-equipped with the history of Economics and its place in the world today is useful contextual knowledge that really helped me appreciate the nuances of Economics.
I graduated with an A for H2 JC Economics at A-level (November 2009). I strongly recommend Mr Lee’s JC Economics tuition to those who need assistance in grasping economic theories, as well as those who want to benefit from excellent teaching that promises not only good grades, but a true appreciation of the discipline.

Mr Daniel Yeo is a caring and approachable JC Physics tuition teacher who is very passionate about physics. He is willing to stay back after physics tuition classes to clarify anything we may not understand and his love for the subject is contagious as I find myself appreciating the subject more and more which allows me to excel in the subject even further.
Mr Yeo is able to clearly explain JC Physics concepts which seem difficult. However, with his simplified explanations, it is better understood by fellow students and I. His immense experience also gives him an edge as a better teacher as he is able to answer all sorts of questions that span across the entire syllabus.
Learning materials given by Mr Yeo are also very comprehensive and include a large variety of questions. They include both specific questions and integrated questions across various topics which allows us to be much better prepared for our examinations.

Mr. Koh was a passionate and caring teacher who always encourages us to strive for the best. I had been getting average grades for Econs throughout my two years in JC and even failed some exams but after a few months of tuition with Mr. Koh, I felt myself improving slowly but surely. He was one of those rare teachers who would encourage students to write as many essays as they wanted to and he would have the patience to mark all of them and give us advice on how to improve. For that, I really respected him as a teacher. I never thought I would be able to achieve an A for A Level Econs but with Mr. Koh's encouragement and faith in me, I managed to build up confidence in myself and aced the examinations in the end. Thanks Mr. Koh!

I only joined in Mr Chia's class in june, but I have managed to learn alot in the short span of time. I am very thankful to him for the past few months of teaching, I’ve really learnt alot and appreciate him taking the extra time and effort to help me and other students out with consultations outside of class time.

Mr Lee is a compassionate JC Economics tuition teacher who not only focuses on imparting knowledge to students but also attends to their emotional problems. Mr Lee was always receptive to advice and he worked very hard and never faltered in his efforts to improve his knowledge and teaching methods. Apart from that, Mr Lee always provides alternative viewpoints in discussions so as to educate his students to be more flexible in their thinking process. Moreover, the constant discussions in his classroom help provide a lively platform for learning.

“Through his patient teachings, Mr Terence Chia reminded me why i used to love Mathematics back in secondary school. He is the best JC Maths tuition teacher ever! Rocks to be his students.”

Despite being under his guidance for less than a year, Mr. Yeo has definitely left his mark on me by proving himself to be a passionate, genuine and warm JC physics tuition teacher. He is one who truly cares about his students and is undoubtedly absolutely fervent about Physics, judging by the way he never ceases to marvel at the subject.
Being one who was initially rather discouraged by the subject, Mr. Yeo’s continuous encouragement and consistently clear explanation opened up the door to a whole new realm of learning for me and has helped me not look upon studying Physics as a chore, but as a means of better understanding this amazing world we live in. He channels his zeal and zest for the subject into his teaching and it has rubbed off onto me, and I am certain, onto many of his students as well.
A teacher to me is one who inspires and encourages his students to consistently question and to pursue new knowledge. Mr. Yeo is the perfect embodiment of a teacher and from the scores of tutors that I have had throughout my entire learning life, he sits right at the top and is someone whom I will always remember for the rest of my life. He has left an indelible mark in my learning life and has earned my admiration for his commitment and dedication for everything he has done.
To teach is to touch lives forever. You have touched mine, Mr. Yeo, and I hope you continue touching the lives of many others.

Mr. Gilbert Lee is a sincere and dedicated JC Economics tuition teacher, with a proven track record of excellence. He is systematic and clear in his teaching, coupled with his step-by-step methodologies and his detailed and precise notes; he delivers, as seen from my results in the 2009 GCE A Level exams. From an ‘E’ grader, he is able to help me obtain an ‘A’ eventually. His lessons are also always highly interesting; he not only prepares his students well for the exams but also helps us understands the society better via Economics, as seen from the fact he is able to tie concepts in seamlessly with real-life occurrences, such as that of the Financial Crisis. On top of that, he is a source of inspiration, constantly motivating us to continually strive for our goals and not give up. As such, he is definitely among the top Economics teachers in Singapore.

“Mr Au is passionate about chemistry and makes concepts clear and easier to understand. Before coming for tuition, I have lost interest in the subject due to lack of understanding but Mr Au is able to make the subject interesting and as such I have become more interested in the subject .”
Ziying, AJC
Mr Lee is a very practical teacher in the sense that he doesn’t just give us knowledge, he teaches us how to manipulate that knowledge in order to answer any question that’s thrown at us in an exam. In class, he trains us to use logical frameworks to breakdown seemingly daunting questions into a simple set of requirements that we find ourselves able to meet without difficulty. Rather than telling us to memorise certain diagrams to illustrate certain points, Mr Lee takes care to explain the reasoning behind these models so that we can better understand them and use them more effectively in our writing. On top of this, Mr Lee colours our understanding of the central issues in A Level JC Economics with examples both historical and current, thereby helping us better appreciate the complex relationship between economic theory and political application, and giving the subject a vivid personality.
Marissa Lee, RI (JC)
“The class has helped deepen my understanding for A level JC Chemistry such that I do not have to memorise all the reactions (w/o understanding!). I feel that Mr Au explains JC Chemistry concepts clearly and also emphasizes on what is important.”
Daphne Kok, VJC
I thought that Mr. Koh was firstly a very friendly teacher. He made me feel at ease at class and encouraged me (and the other students) to speak up and ask questions; he was always open to questions and discussions. Secondly, he was always willing to help mark our additional essays after class. I think all the practice essays I'd written and had him mark ultimately helped me achieve my A for Econs as it was extremely helpful to have feedback and 'personalized essay tips' on how to improve. I'm really glad that I had such a supportive and encouraging tuition teacher like him!
Tang Rei-En, RJC (2011)
I joined Mr Koh’s Economics classes in the 2nd year of my JC. I had always found Economics to be a dry and difficult subject until I came to Mr Koh’s class. He was a very enagaging and passionate Economics teacher. He often questioned students to make sure that we had a clear understanding of core Economics concepts and even devised many new ways to make us understand. For example, he made use of many illustrations and logical approaches to some concepts so that we could grasp them better and offered alternate viewpoints to different essays. He provided us with many concise notes and gave regular quizzes to test our understanding. What really impresses me is the fact that he never failed to clear my doubts. He even offered to meet me and my peers separately outside tutition time so as to better help them. He was also a teacher who was understanding and compassionate towards students. He tried to make lessons more interesting and made us appreciate the true value of Economics in the real world by showing videos relating to our history. Economics became one of my favourite subjects. Soon, I saw my Economics grades improving tremendously. From a ‘D’ in the 1st quarter of my JC 2 term, soon I achieved a ‘B’ for my Preliminary Examinations. With the continuous support, advice and many useful tips from Mr Koh, eventually I achieved an ‘A’ grade for Economics in my ‘A’ Levels. Mr Koh was definitely an awesome teacher and I would like to thank him from the bottom of my heart. I really appreciate all the hard work he put in in teaching me and the unwavering motivation he provided me with.

Mr Yeo is a dedicated and inspiring JC Physics tutor with an avid passion in teaching. Lessons with him are not just sessions after sessions of intense preparation for the A levels, but also wonderful learning journeys where I grew to have an appreciation for Physics. Initially, I was disheartened as I did poorly in Physics and wanted to give up. However, Mr Yeo encouraged me to ask questions and clarify my concepts. This rekindled my enthusiasm for Physics and I became a more motivated learner.
Under Mr Yeo’s guidance, I could not only see the improvement in my Physics grades, but in other subjects as well, as I learnt to treat them with the same positive attitude. Besides helping his students to excel academically, Mr Yeo also inspires them to find their direction in life. He is truly a great teacher.
And once again thank you for having been such a great Physics tutor! I could not have gotten the A without you.
Leong Pei Yi, HCI
Mr Lee regularly highlights to students what the Cambridge examiners are looking for. He also contrasts the different ways in which the Cambridge examiners and our school teachers mark. This has helped me to do relatively well in school, while keeping in view the things I need to do differently at the A level exam to score well. Mr Lee also explains concepts very well. He helped me to gain more intimate knowledge of the subject. Each lesson with him lasts for 2 hours but it never felt that long. He is a very engaging JC Economics tuition teacher that peppers his lessons with some witty jokes to keep you tuned in. Mr Lee is effective in teaching you the ropes to score an A for Economics. Couple his teachings with hard work and you can almost guarantee yourself an A.
Yeo Jia Wen, TJC
“I think this class has greatly improved my logical linkages for ‘A’ level JC chemistry. Mr Au’s passion for this subject and genuine concern for our understanding is apparent in class. His teaching is very engaging, extremely enthusiastic and very useful.”
Leonora, VJC
Engaging yet informative. These three words clearly encapsulate the essence of Mr. Lee’s teaching style. Through employing a series of interesting videos and presentations relating to economic history and real-world events such as the recent subprime crisis, learning Economics has been a fun and exciting experience for my peers and I throughout the past year. By learning beyond what the H2 JC Economics Syllabus demands of the typical A-level student, I have gained much in terms of academic results by securing an A in the 2009 GCE A-Level Examination, but more importantly, an in-depth awareness of how Economics affect our everyday life. As such, I strongly recommend all JC students to pursue a fruitful education under Mr. Lee in experiencing the study of Economics like never before!
Nicholas Ang Jing Wen, ACJC
“Mr Au is able to explain the concepts thoroughly by illustrating the ideas through experiments or real life examples. His teaching enable me to understand the subject much better!”
Yuqing, RJC
Mr Gilbert Lee is a very enthusiastic and experienced teacher who piqued and developed my interest in JC Economics. He creates a vibrant learning environment by bringing in real world examples into boring theories, showing how Economics is relevant to everything around us. He is fully committed to his students, being available anytime via SMS or email. Also, his commitment is evident as he encourages us to write countless essays and faithfully marks them. More than a teacher, he is also a friend, giving moral support and life advices when things do not go well. Thanks to his teaching, I managed to secure an ‘A’ for Economics at the ‘A’ levels. Thank you Mr. Lee!
Eri Sasaaki, AJC
I joined Mr Yeo's JC Physics tuition class about 6 months before the A level examinations, his lessons revolve mainly around practice questions, which are very helpful. In addition, he encourages us to share our misconceptions and weaknesses with the class before clarifying them, this allowed me to learn what mistakes people tend to make and learn from them as well.
Mr Yeo made H2 Physics very interesting as he always linked concepts to real world applications which are not seen in school notes. More importantly, like all good teachers, Mr Yeo has a great passion for physics, which influenced me to like it as well. The lesson pace is also very suited for all students as he would help the weaker students and push the stronger ones to improve further. His commitment to teach also shows when he stays back after each lesson to listen to our questions.
He definitely helped me in this subject by imparting both his knowledge and passion for physics to me. Thank you Mr Yeo!
