Why Join the Headstart Programme?
Transitioning from O-Levels or IP to Junior College can be overwhelming, with new subjects, higher expectations, and tougher exams. Economics, in particular, is a brand-new subject for many students, and those who wait until JC starts often feel overwhelmed by the sudden leap in difficulty.
Our JC1 Economics Headstart Programme is specially designed to:
- Build a solid foundation in key Economics concepts
- Develop critical thinking and analytical skills needed for case studies & essays
- Learn proven exam strategies from experienced MOE-trained teachers
- Enter JC with the confidence to excel from Day 1
A strong start in Economics not only boosts academic results but also reduces stress in adapting to the new JC curriculum.

What the Headstart Programme Covers:
- Introduction to JC Economics – understanding the subject, expectations, and how it differs from secondary school learning.
- Core Foundation Concepts – demand & supply, elasticity, and market structures explained clearly.
- Exam & Answering Strategies – step-by-step guidance on tackling JC essays and case study questions.
- Study Skills for JC Success – time management, note-taking, and how to handle the heavier JC workload.
This programme is designed for:
- Sec 4 (O-Level) students in 2025, moving into JC in 2026
- IP Year 4 students progressing directly into JC1
- Students who want to get ahead by building a strong foundation in Economics before school begins
If your child has never studied Economics before (like most JC1s), this programme is the perfect entry point.

What students said about this programme
I had never studied Economics before this programme, so I was a bit worried at first. But the Headstart lessons made everything much clearer. The tutor breaks down difficult topics into simple ideas and gives lots of examples that relate to real life. The practice questions are helpful, and I feel like I’m learning a lot even though I started from scratch. I’m definitely more confident about the subject now.
At first, Economics felt really abstract and hard to follow, but this programme made everything clearer. The tutor uses real-life examples that make concepts easy to understand, and the class size is small enough that I can ask questions anytime. I also liked how we practiced exam-style questions in class, which really helped me see how to apply what I’ve learned. Overall, I feel more confident and ready for JC now.
Before joining the HeadStart programme, I honestly knew nothing about Economics. It was all new to me and felt really confusing. The lessons really helped me understand the basics step by step. The tutor explains things clearly and uses simple examples that make sense, so I don’t feel lost anymore. Doing practice questions in class also helped me apply what I learned. Now I feel much more confident and ready to start JC journey.
