Writing letters and messages for holidays are not my strong suit but nevertheless I will make an effort just as Mr Au has done to accommodate me throughout my many months with him. I can speak about the tips he gives us for chemistry or the manner at which he conducts his class engaging with the students, but as I write this message I had time to reflect upon what it means to be a teacher. When you work with students from many JC’s and different classes it isn’t easy to care individually for each and everyone. It isn’t easy to reply to different text message at all hours of the day, it isn’t easy to learn the interests or quirks of each students. But from what I’ve seen Mr Au tries with whatever time he can spare. And That I believe is what it means to be a teacher, beyond transferring information or managing their grades. The ability to try to care a bit more, a bit further. On behalf of all students with the privilege of being under his tutelage I can say that we are richer for having known you. Happy Teachers day and see you next sunday.
