Dr Aaron Tan received the B.Eng. and PhD from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. He was also a research scholar during his undergraduate studies and received the EDB joint industry postgraduate scholarship to further his interest in applied research. He published numerous conference and journal research papers and also guided students on their final year projects.

He sat in the Non-Academic Achievements interview panel in NTU EEE and was a student-advisor for an outreach programme involved with planning and conducting engineering-related workshops for JC students in Singapore. From 2008 to 2018, he was a contract teacher with the Singapore Sports School as an academic tutor for Math and Physics and since 2011, he has been teaching H2 Physics and helped many students from different JC to improve their understanding as well as grades. With years of industry applications and experience under his belt, he provides examples in class to help students to appreciate concepts.

He guides students in exploring Physics by identifying facts and evidence from observations or questions and then relating them with concepts before building the mathematical models to solve the problems. He encourages them to always ask “Why” and “How” as he believes that an inquisitive mind goes a long way not just in Physics but also in future academic or career pursuits.
