Mr Lim Vee Heng graduated from National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Science degree (Chemistry) Second Class Honours (Lower division). Upon graduation, Mr Lim joined the Ministry or Education as a contract teacher with Serangoon Junior College (SRJC) in 1999 where he taught A level Chemistry. He developed passion in teaching chemistry and decided to enrol in the Post Graduate Diploma in Education programme (PGDE) in National Institute of Education (NIE) in 2000. After graduation from NIE, he served fifteen years as a Teacher teaching H1 and H2 Chemistry at National Junior College (NJC), Tampines Junior College (TPJC) and Anglo Chinese Junior College (ACJC). In 2016, Mr Lim took leave to take up a Master’s Degree in Science communication with NUS. The training Mr Lim received in science communication allowed him to gain new insights in modern methods and innovative strategies to communicate science ideas to students which focus on practical applications of science concepts to real world context.
Mr Lim believe these strategies will enhance students learning experiences in Chemistry and is highly relevant and crucial to prepare students to be ready for the challenging future. He was awarded the Master’s Degree in Science communication after one and a half years.
