After the suspension of the National School Games (NSG) for all games in 2020, and for a few games in 2021, the NSG is finally back in full strength in 2022! You may be seeing your friends train extremely hard for it and you may be wondering what it is about and why it is important. The National School Games (NSG) is the largest annual inter-school competition which offers more than 400 championship titles for over 50,000 student-athletes across primary and secondary schools, junior colleges and centralised institutions. The main aim of the NSG is to build Character in Sporting Excellence and is a great opportunity to recognise the efforts of student-athletes and promote participation in sports and sportsmanship. In the past, schools would send multiple classes to the competition venue to support the representatives from their schools. I can still remember the live-streaming of the A Div Floorball finals at our school’s atrium where everyone would crowd around to cheer on our school’s floorball team. The NSG for the Secondary/JC/CI section is split into different divisions: C Div for lower secondary students, B Div for upper secondary students and A Div for JC/CI students. The sports included are Badminton, Basketball, Bowling, Canoeing, Cricket, Cross-country, Fencing, Floorball, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Hockey, Judo, Netball, Rugby, Sailing, Sepak Takraw, Shooting, Softball, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Track & Field, Volleyball, Water Polo and Wushu. As of now, the NSG is currently ongoing and the latest updates can be found here. We wish all student-athletes participating in the National School Games (NSG) all the best! ]>
