Singapore Primary School Tuition Fee Rate varies from the qualification of the tuition teacher. Please refer to the table below for more information.
It is essential to verify the tutor’s qualification before the tuition starts. Please request for their original document during the first lesson.
The table below only serves as a gauge. The actual tuition fees may vary depending on individual tuition assignment due to factors like
- the qualification of the tutors
- tutor’s total numbers years of experience
- the location of the tuition
- number of subjects
- subject type
- the demand of the tutors
Some home tutors may be willing to accept a lower rate if the location of tuition is very near or the student is attending group tuition.
It is ideal to plan and budget the monthly/ yearly tuition expenditures. Here are some factors in budgeting.
a. Tuition Fee Per Hour
b. Time Duration Per Tuition Session
It is generally from 1.5 hours to 2 hours. Anything shorter than 1 hour cannot help the student. Anything more than 2 hours may result in fatigue and it is not efficient. On top of that, most tutors will reject 1-hour tuition; it is not cost effective in term of preparation and travel.
c. Tuition Session Per Week
It is best to keep 1 to 2 tuition session per week.
It should be enough to clarify the doubts regarding the daily assignments and also allow sufficient time for the tutor to go ahead of school syllabus to get a better start.
Please take note that some tutors may not cover school syllabus. It would be wise to double check their progress. Your child may not know what to expect from the tutor. However, the parent can pre-arrange/ agree with the tutor what to cover.
Excess tuition may stress your child. However, it may be good to increase the number of tuition sessions before any major exams.
Some parents question why there is a need for tuition. The ratio for a teacher to students in a class is not ideal. A teacher can only help a limited number of students. Hence, tuition helps to cover the lapse.
With home tuition, your child learns better and faster under supervision. They receive undivided attention from one tutor. The tutor can easily impart the following:
– comprehension of the question
– processing capability
– mathematical skills
– the answering technique
– time management
To do well, your child needs to apply them.
