Hi Mr Mike Wang,
As you have heard, the 2020 A level results are out, and I hope I’ve done you proud.
It was a very tough journey indeed, especially in H2 Chem as we all know that the trend is leaning more towards application, rather than just memorising and vomiting out whatever we memorised. However, I did not get defeated by the visceral fear, for you were there for all of us, being our confidence booster.
I recalled myself taking the Chem paper (especially paper 2), and the application was really weird to me. I could not grasp the concept they want, and i started panicking as time started to tick away. Seeing how the minutes had gone by one by one, I repeatedly told myself to calm down, and to move on to other questions first. I remembered you once told us to think about the basics, the small tricks that you had taught us, and thankfully, other questions were fine. To be honest, I was very disheartened after chemistry paper 2, as I felt that my A grade was gone. Even B grade felt like a far away dream, and it nearly affected my math paper the following day. Despite that, I picked myself up, and tried my best to be confident for paper 3, as I knew that organic Chem was my strength.
Remembering the way you taught us on how to identify whether the lone pair of electrons in nitrogen is involved in hybridisation (which I still rem till today 😂) and then teaching it to my classmates, looking at their mind-blown faces was a reminder that whatever you taught me, was still in me. Countless of small tactics and interesting ways to remember important information that you taught us was what gave me back the confidence that I will and can do well in my next paper. Fortunately enough, paper 3 was pretty decent (although I had a few calculation careless mistakes, but my organic was well done). For this particular paper, I recalled what you taught us about spotting patterns in elucidation. And there it was, right in front of my eyes, an application-based elucidation, which I managed to solve it confidently. It wouldn’t have been possible without your help.
Now that I reflect upon my two years in your lessons, they really helped me in overcoming this huge hurdle in JC. I can never emphasise enough how I came in with a U grade grade and jumping to a B grade in 4-5 months time, which you had played a big role. Your lessons are inspiring and fun, and I could feel your love and passion for chemistry. On the big day, upon seeing an A grade for my H2 Chem, I was more than just delighted. I was over the moon, and feeling so thankful that my hard work did not go to waste, and that I did not let you down. I have always loved chemistry, and your passion in teaching this subject just seemed to make it grow stronger. I hope that you will continue to stay passionate in this subject and inspiring many generations to come, being THEIR confidence booster and making a change in their lives.
Thank you and Happy Chinese New Year Mr Wang.
Yours sincerely,
Celeste Ho

A big big thank you to Mr Mike Wang for helping me to grasp the foundation of Chemistry when I was completely lost and had no idea what was going on in school at the end of J1. After attending his chemistry tuition, he made me understand all my misconceptions and built up my foundation and further enriched my knowledge with past year questions. With all these preparations, I can happily say that I managed to score an A for Chemistry in the A Levels. Thank you Mr Wang!

time flies and I’ve attended your lessons for more than a year. I remember coming into lesson with a big U grade for my Chemistry block test in year 1. I was afraid that I wont do well, and everything seemed so tough and confusing initially. So I came for a trial lesson as my senior (wai yip) introduced me to you. And frankly speaking, I’ve loved chemistry a lot more ever since you made concepts much easier to grasp. I did quite decent for my promo exams, and you played a big part in it! Your lessons are always interesting, and together with my outgoing classmates, our lessons are less dead, less boring. (I hope you enjoy teaching our class even though we can get rowdy at times haha) I look forward to Chem lessons on Monday as I always learn something new about the subject I like and with the fact that things doesn’t seem as tough as it seems, it encourages me to strive to do better for my upcoming exams. A levels are near and I hope I don’t disappoint you! Thank you for being a teacher that never fails to make chemistry a lot more fun, a little less difficult, and definitely a subject that I continue loving.
(I am one day late after TDC so I hope this message still gets across haha )
Thank you Mr Wang!
Wishing you a very happy Teacher’s Day,
Celeste Ho

To Mr Mike Wang:
Thank you for guiding me throughout every topic of Chemistry and for allowing us to text you urgent questions any time we need to, and for always answering our questions with depth. Your determination to dedicate your own time out of class to have consultation sessions with us, going through every mistake in our exam paper has certainly helped me in not repeating the same careless mistakes. You definitely have a part to play in helping me attain an A for my A-Level Chemistry grade. I appreciate and thank you a lot Mr Wang!

Mr Mike Wang has always been a very caring and a tutor with a lot of patience to teach his students. He always puts in his best effort to help students understand and grasp concepts more easily than the method schools typically used. I started to understand and appreciate chemistry more under Mr Wang and hence managed to improved my chemistry quickly and achieved a B for Chemistry during the A level exams. Once again thank you Mr Wang!

Thank you Mr Mike Wang for teaching me the ins and outs of Chemistry as a study and as an examinable subject, and for constantly pushing me to achieve my goals.

Thank you Mr Mike Wang for being so patient, constantly making sure I understood all the concepts taught in class, and for making it that much easier to understand chemistry! Under you, I finally saw chemistry in a simpler light thanks to your jokes and linking ideas to modern everyday situations, and was able to better grasp the topics that were being taught and tested. Lessons with you were never were a bore and I looked forward to every one. Thanks to you, I improved greatly from an S in prelims to a B in A levels! Thank you :-)

Could not have asked for a better teacher for chemistry. Mr Mike Wang is a teacher who is really dedicated to his students one example is him meeting us outside of his working hours to answer our questions which really shows his genuine care for his students. He is also a teacher who is very engaging, he would often use jokes and think of creative ways to teach us which lifts the atmosphere in the room and also helps us to stay awake. Am really happy to have signed up for his class and have recommended him to my juniors!

I have been consistently getting Ds and Es for my H2 Chemistry but have managed to secure a B for A levels. Grades Aside, Mr Mike Wang has helped me develop a passion for organic chemistry and this has encouraged me to pursue a life science related degree im the future. I took away from him in terms of experience more than grades. Thanks Mr Mike Wang!
